In November 2009, Tiger went on his 38th European Tour win and had his first win of the PGA Tour of Australasia Then Woods won his 71st carreer title at the BMW Championship. It was at the WGC-Accenture Match Play where he lost to Tim Clark in the second round. It has been called one of the most anticipated returns on sports history when Tiger returned to the PGA Tour event after and eight month layoff. But his playoff victory at the 2005 Masters and a convincing victory at the 2005 British Open has placed him firmly on top of the golf world's rankings once again. He's also won nearly $110 million in prize money and he's still only 33 years old! Tiger Woods lost his number one spot in the world golf rankings in September 2004 and was briefly ranked third in the world behind Ernie Els and V.J. He's won 71 official PGA Tour events, including four Masters, 4 PGA Championships, three US Opens and three British Opens. Since turning pro, Tiger Woods has devoured just about every competition he's entered. He was also selected as the 1997 PGA Player of the Year. While he appeared in only a handful of professional tournaments during his years in college, it wouldn't be long before Tiger Woods would be winning pro events at a ridiculous rate. Two years later, he went to college at Stanford University where he won ten collegiate events and the NCAA title. Tiger Woods was just 16 and still in high school when he played in his first professional golf tournament - the Nissan Los Angeles Open. When he was just five, the golf world began to take notice of Tiger Woods and he was featured on the cover of Golf Digest. Tiger Woods appeared on television practicing his swing at the age of two and by the time he was three, he had already shot a 48 on a nine-hole course. He was given the nickname Tiger after a Vietnamese soldier and friend of his father, to whom his father had also given that nickname. He would watch his father, Earl, hit golf balls into a net and would try imitating his swing.
